3 Signs You Shouldn’t Ignore in Your Child’s Oral Health

When it comes to children’s oral health, it is easy to think that “there is still time.”
However, acting at the right moment — before a problem becomes more complex — truly makes the difference.

In our practice, we see every day how a preventive dental visit can help guide harmonious dental development, prevent trauma, and detect and correct potential issues at an early stage.

Here are 3 signs you should not ignore, which clearly indicate it is time for a dental visit for your child:

Very protruding teeth

When the upper incisors are significantly more forward than the other teeth — commonly referred to as “buck teeth” — the risk of trauma and fractures increases considerably, especially during play or sports activities. It may also lead to teasing from peers.

An early evaluation helps determine whether orthodontic treatment is needed or whether simple protective measures may be sufficient.

Lower teeth that stick out in front of the upper teeth

This condition, known as an underbite, may appear to be only an aesthetic feature, but it can actually affect jaw development and the functional balance of the entire mouth.

Here too, early interception allows for less invasive and more effective treatment.

Baby teeth that are too crowded

A certain amount of spacing between baby teeth is considered normal, as it allows room for the permanent teeth to erupt properly.

When baby teeth appear very close together or crowded, it may indicate a lack of space in the dental arch. This can lead to future crowding or the need for more complex orthodontic treatment.

A simple check-up allows for a clear assessment of the situation and, if necessary, early planning of further treatment.

Prevention starts early

In our practice, we welcome young patients with care and gentleness, ensuring their first dental experience is positive and reassuring.

A simple check-up is the first step toward ensuring your child a healthy smile not only today, but also in the future.
